Taking Care of Yourself after Christmas and Your Copious Meals

We know that during the Christmas season it is difficult not to gain a few kilos, so we have prepared some simple tricks to learn how to take care of yourself after Christmas. Diet? Nobody is talking about diets, in fact, they are not recommended.  During the holidays we make many excesses, between meals, snacks and dinners and the best way to return to our regular weight is to return to the normal diet that we had before Christmas.  No special diet is necessary!

Tips to Recover from Christmas Excesses

The reality is that there are no magic tricks, far from it. No miracle diets either.  It is mainly a question based on returning to the healthy habits we had before the holidays. Here are the four tips that will get you back to your ideal weight:

Forget about the Diet

According to endocrinologists, it is important to forget about dieting, regardless of the excesses that we have committed. The body will not understand why you suddenly go on a fast or reduce your food intake. It has to go little by little, especially if we have accustomed it to eating a lot.

The fundamental thing is to remove what is we have abused the most at this time: alcohol, sweets or highly elaborate dishes, and return to a balanced diet. Veal should be part of it, Ideally having it about twice a week.  It is a great source of protein, vitamins and iron. Recipes like our Asian Barbecued Skirt Steak or this incredible US Beef Steak Salad can be your great allies.

Revive your Schedules

By this we mean that you have an established order when making meals. To avoid starvation, you should eat at least five times a day: breakfast, mid-morning (fruit, snack, yogurt or nuts), lunch, snack and dinner. This way we will avoid going more than three hours without eating, and we will reduce our anxiety.  Three hours is the period in which there is a decrease in sugar and is when we get hungry again, especially in people who need to lose weight.

Get more Physical Activity

This step is essential, in fact, it is one of the most important. You have to move.  Exercise is necessary for good health. Some people who do physical exercise regularly tend to abandon it during Christmas; they are simply advised to get back to their exercise routine.

For people who haven’t exercised before, they already have a New Year’s resolution.

Exercise should not be seen only as a way to lose weight, but it should be seen as something that helps us disconnect and relax. In addition, it makes us feel better: there is nothing like taking a good shower after exercising, you feel like new.

Get Back to Your Sleep Routine

You have to have a sleep routine and establish a schedule to go to bed at approximately the same time every day. The ideal is to sleep between 6 and 8 hours, to establish a balance in the body.

Although there are people who need less sleep, our brain needs to rest at least 6 hours, this is the same for everyone. In fact, it has been shown that people who sleep less tend to eat more, which is why it is said that “sleeping makes you lose weight.”

If you follow these tips, we assure you that your body will notice the change and you will feel good and strong for everything you propose.
