The US Embassy in Stockholm is having an event on May 8. The Ambassador, Mark Brzezinski, will appear as a contestant on one of Sweden’s most popular shows, “Halv åtta hos mig” (7:30 at My Place). It’s a cooking show, modeled on the British program “Come Dine with Me.” The program was filmed in October, but is airing the week of May 5. On May 8, the episode at the Ambassador’s residence is airing and that night we are planning to screen the show at his residence to audience of 150 top contacts including representatives from business, government, and media.
The primary reason the Ambassador participated in the show was to promote American food and products. For the Ambassador’s episode, he cooked Lobster gratin with vegetable ratatouille; Marinated US Beef flank steak with rice and sautéed bell peppers accompanied by guacamole and sour cream; and apple pie with butterscotch caramel sauce. He used American beef, American lobster and American wine and highlighted them on the show.
